The Gamma Xi Boule Foundation currently awarded Marc Brunot of Bayshore High School with its $16,000 Matthew Carter Scholarship. Brunot emigrated from Haiti with his family at age and graduated with a 4.27 GPA. He will attend Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers and major in accounting.
Carter was a national officer of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity and a charter member of Gamma Xi Boule. The awards ceremony was held at North Sarasota Library. The Matthew Carter Scholarship is awarded to students from Manatee, Sarasota and Charlotte counties who plan to attend four-year accredited colleges or universities. Students must graduate with a minimum GPA of 3.0, commit to a major in business, finance, science, math, health, humanities.
Since 2001, the Boulé has awarded approximately $50,000 in scholarships to many first generation college students. The Perlman Music Program/Suncoast recently received a tourist development cultural/arts grant for $51,445 from the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County.
The funds will help support performances by alumni of The Perlman Music Program at various cultural institutions throughout Sarasota County for the 2017-18 season and the annual Celebration Concert held each January at the Sarasota Opera House.
The Celebration Concert, the highlight of the PMP Sarasota Winter Residency and featuring the talents of PMP students, will be held Jan. 4 at the Sarasota Opera House with performances by the PMP String Orchestra, led by Itzhak Perlman, and the PMP Chorus, led by Patrick Romano.Category: Scholarship
